Wing Foil Surfing Wingfoiling Spot around Andalucia
Our main surf spot is located in front of Conil and offers the best conditions for beginners and experts because the wind here is not as strong as in Tarifa and we have a lot of space on the 16km long sandy beach which is never too crowded and at high tide a perfect flat water area is formed by the river mouth which is great for practicing.
Wind information
Due to the geographic location of the Strait of Gibraltar, the mountains of Morocco and the mountains around Tarifa create a jet effect where the wind accelerates and strengthens depending on the wind direction.
This means that if the wind at the Strait of Gibraltar Tarifa is too strong we can simply sail further up the coast and the further we go the wind becomes weaker depending on the wind direction.
This gives us the wonderful opportunity to sail 80km of coastline with about 20 wing spots and depending on whether you prefer flat water or waves and stronger wind or a lighter breeze and especially as a beginner a light constant wind is a great help.
Therefore our main spot is Conil because we often have moderate wind and some flat water spots around the corner.
Wind directions
“Poniente” is the nice constant westerly wind which is rather moderate between 10-20 knots and which is best suited for wingfoiling.
“Levante” is the strong desert wind that is often gusty and in many spots offshore around 20-35 knots so it is more suitable for intermediates with previous knowledge in other windspot types and experts in wingfoiling
“Sur” is a nice constant wind around 15-20 knots but rather rare mostly only when the wind turns from Levante to Poniente for a day from 13-18h
When and where is it allowed to practice water sports in general
Outside the normal bathing season, you can actually do water sports everywhere.
In the bathing season some beaches are restricted for water sports or you have to keep 300m distance from the beach.
Most of the beaches have a special water sports zone. In these zones only licensed schools are allowed to operate.
At our main spot Conil we have a quite big water sports area where we mostly give our wing surf courses.
